Karen and her husband, Steve, have been married since 1986 and have three terrific children, Elizabeth, Anna, and Ben.
Karen holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in elementary education from Furman University and a masters degree in early childhood education from Mercer University. At an early age, Karen felt God leading her to a career in teaching and began the journey with ten years in the DeKalb and Gwinnett public schools. With the arrival of three of their own, she and Steve felt the call to homeschool their children, and they have been doing so since 1999. As the children have grown into a different stage in their education, Karen is excited to put her call to teach and help others into practice at Scholars Guild Academy.
She enjoys reading, animal watching, shopping with her daughters, visiting state parks and taking family trips. The family attends Crosspointe Church in Duluth.
